Our History

Cape Coral Community Church had its beginning as a Bible study group in the home of Lew and Ruth Walter in 1974. The first of a regular schedule of services was held March 2, 1975, in Ft. Myers. In 1979, Reverend Wilton Sharpe and his wife, Deborah, came to pastor the church. Ground breaking for the first building was September 14, 1980, with the first service on September 20, 1981.

On May 24, 1989, a five-acre site was purchased on Santa Barbara Blvd to relocate the church. The first building was sold in March of 1990, with a ground breaking for the new facility held on September 20, 1990. On July 7, 1991, the new facility was opened and the church congregation continued to grow. In the summer of 1995, Reverend Sharpe moved to New York. Pastor David Rigby, his wife Linda, and their 3 daughters came from Canada to pastor here.

In 1998 Cape Coral Christian School was founded here at the church. What was expected to begin as a very small school rapidly grew to include Pre K through the 12th grade. Under the teachings of Pastor David, the church has continued to grow and continued to reach out to the community of Cape Coral inviting them to journey through life together loving God, loving others and serving the world.
